Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road, Hershey, will hold several special events during December. All events will take place in the church's sanctuary. "A Weary World Rejoices" Christmas concert will bring together the church's Sanctuary Choir, a brass quintet, the Derry Ringers, and guest soloist Christyn Seay at 2 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, in the sanctuary. Only the 5 p.m. concert will be livestreamed. The concert is part of the church's 2021-22 Arts Alive Cultural Series. Face masks are required. A freewill offering will be received.
For individuals with empty places in their hearts and homes this Christmas season, a "Longest Night" worship service will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 21. This reflective, come-as-you-are service with Communion will be held at 7 p.m.
Three Christmas Eve candlelight worship services will be held on Friday, Dec. 24. Face masks are required. Worship will include Lessons and Carols, Communion, and singing of "Silent Night"; a candle-free worship zone will be available. Candlelight services will begin at 2:30 p.m. with holiday music by the Derry Brass. The 5 p.m. worship service is designed especially for young children and families, and child care will be available. At 7:30 p.m., a traditional Christmas Eve candlelight service of Lessons and Carols will be presented. Anthems will be provided by the Derry Ringers handbell choir and the Sanctuary Choir.
