The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is seeking volunteers to prepare free taxes for community members. Free training classes have begun and will run through January, so there is still time to register.
Training will be offered in a totally virtual mode, so volunteers can work through it at their pace and when they have the time. VITA is also offering classroom training in January.
Volunteers can choose from seven different sites and can choose hours during the day, evening or weekend, and they can work as little or as much as their schedule allows. Multiple roles are available, including tax preparers, quality reviewers, English/Spanish interpreters and greeters.
Precautions will be taken to ensure every volunteer is kept safe during the pandemic. All sites will operate as drop-off centers, and preparation of taxes will take place after the taxpayer leaves.
For more information or to register for an upcoming training, call 610-380-9099, visit http://www.chestercountyfreetaxes.org or email dlaird@quietrevolution.org.
