GEARS Slates Winter Programs

GEARS will offer several fitness programs in the new year. Participants must be at least age 14. There is a per-person cost per class with a discounted rate for GEARS members. To register or for more information, visit http://www.getintogears.org or call GEARS at 717-367-0355.

Hatha Flow Yoga will be offered at the Marriage Hub, 18 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays from Monday, Jan. 3, through Saturday, March 12. The multi-level class incorporates yoga poses, conscious breathing, and a meditative focus. No experience is necessary.

Core de Force will be held on Tuesdays, Jan. 4 to March 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fighting Dragons, 101 Cherry St., Elizabethtown. The program includes 12 rounds of bodyweight training and cardio conditioning with boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai inspired combos.

Zumba, a dance fitness class that fuses motivational musical rhythms and unique moves, will be offered on Wednesdays, Jan. 5 to March 2, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at Fighting Dragons.

Feel Good Yoga features breath-based flowing yoga sequences are used to warm the body, foster mobility and flexibility, balance, and create a deep sense of relaxation. The program will be held from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 6 to March 10, at the Marriage Hub. Participants should bring a yoga mat and yoga block.

POUND will be offered to people age 14 and up on Fridays, Jan. 7 to March 4, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at the Fighting Dragons. The class features lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercise. Attendees should bring a yoga mat.

Cycle Strong, offering a low-impact, high-intensity workout set to music, will be held on Saturdays, Jan. 8 to March 12, from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at the Marriage Hub. Participants should bring water and a towel, and they may also bring two small hand weights if they wish.

Spin & Sculpt, which offers a combination of indoor cycling and strength training, will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 11 to March 1 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Marriage Hub. Classes will not be held on Jan. 20, Feb. 3, and Feb. 17. Attendees should bring their own dumbbells. People age 18 and up of all fitness levels may participate.

Two tai chi classes will be offered on Tuesdays, Jan. 11 to March 15, in the gym at Rheems Elementary School, 130 Alida St., Elizabethtown.

Introduction to Tai Chi, for people new to tai chi or those who have not practiced in years, will be held from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Students will learn a simple 10-step taiji form.

Advanced Tai Chi (Forms, Weapons, and San Shou) will be available from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Participants will integrate the postures learned in the introductory class with new moves. Sword and other weapon forms will be gradually introduced and integrated with additional hand forms.
