LancasterHistory will offer a virtual lecture, "James Buchanan and Partisan Politics," on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. John W. Quist will discuss James Buchanan's political career and the emergence of partisan politics in America. He will answer the question "Was James Buchanan's loyalty to the Union as fierce as his devotion to the Jacksonian Democratic Party?"

Quist is a professor of history at Shippensburg University, as well as the author, editor or co-editor of several publications related to the Civil War, including the Antebellum Period and the post-war years.

LancasterHistory will be closed to the public throughout January. All operations will reopen to the public on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Beginning on that date, hours will be Wednesdays to Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Wheatland tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Capacity will be limited, and reservations are recommended.
