Penn State Extension in York County will hold a training in early spring of 2022 for new Master Watershed Steward trainees. The program was launched in 2016 in York County and currently has over 80 trained Master Watershed Stewards.
After completing their training, Master Watershed Stewards volunteer in the community to improve the health of local streams, rivers, and other natural resources. They teach adults and children about the environment, organize stream cleanups, design demonstration rain gardens, monitor streams, work with municipal officials to plant riparian buffers, and more.
Information meetings will be held via Zoom on Wednesdays, Jan. 12 and 26, at 6:30 p.m. Each presentation will highlight volunteer requirements and will showcase on-the-ground projects and educational programs Master Watershed Stewards have carried out in the county. Registration is required by visiting https://extension.psu.edu/master-watershed-steward-information-meeting-for-york-county.
