Don Ryan, the whistle master for the annual York Factory Whistle Concerts, is seeking apprentices who would like to become assistant whistle masters. Apprentices must be residents of York County, age 21 or older, and willing to attend planned practices and the Christmas concert. Training will be provided.
In 2021, the 67th edition of the Christmas morning York Factory Whistle Concert held in York was heard in every state in the United States as well as in more than 100 other countries. A total of 29,267,153 hits were registered from the online radio, social media, and internet users. At the concert site in York, a large-screen projection on the side of the building showed Don and his son Scott producing the sounds of the carols.
Anyone interested in becoming an apprentice may contact Don at 717-755-0636 or dryan955@comcast.net.
