Library System Plans Celebration

York County Libraries (YCL) will host "A Reading Journey" celebration for families from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19. The event is part of YCL's signature 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, which encourages York County parents to read 1,000 books with their children before they start school. The free festivities will be held via Zoom and will be geared to children from birth to age 5 and their families.

The celebration will include storytelling by local celebrity readers, including state Rep. Carol Hill-Evans and Delma Rivera-Lytle, recently retired diversity education specialist for the Central York School District. In addition to guest storytellers, the animal-themed program will include a zookeeper and animals from ZooAmerica, a mini dance party, crafts, and entertainment. Free follow-along craft kits will be available at designated library locations for pickup while supplies last.

Registration is required using the link at http://www.yorklibraries.org/1000-books. Details for attending the celebration and for getting a free craft kit will be provided during registration. For more information, contact Lisa Schmittle at lschmittle@yorklibraries.org.
