Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church (MOPC) held its Nuts 'N Bolts Sale on Jan. 8, bringing in profits of over $1,100. The event was first offered eight years ago and features a variety of items geared to men and to women. The event is sponsored by the MOPC mission team.
All profits will go to the church's Peru Mission Fund and will be sent to support to the church's sister church and community in the city of Iquitos and the village of Tamshiyacu, Peru.
In 2021, MOPC provided medical supplies for the hospital in Iquitos and Tamshiyacu, located along the Amazon River. Items included wheelchairs, mattresses, personal protective equipment for the nurses and doctors, and diapers. For the people of Tamshiyacu, MOPC sent funds for medicines to treat tuberculosis, parasites, and malaria. Additionally, every year at Christmas, MOPC provides a hot chocolate party for the children.
The next Nuts 'N Bolts sale is planned for Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023. Community members may sell items at the event; more information is forthcoming.
