Center Posts Update, Schedule

Mohler Senior Center, 25 Hope Drive, Hershey, has announced that its new name is the Leader Center for Active Life. The center received a donation from the Leader Foundation in memory of Governor and Mary Jane Leader.

The center will occupy 9,000 square feet in the newly constructed Derry Township Community Center, 605 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, and it will have its own entrance, lobby, and space for use from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays. Leader Center will welcome members to the new location in late spring.

Members' annual membership contribution will allow participation in all Leader Center programs and services. Offered will be daily exercise, dance programs, lifelong learning classes, games, crafts, and social opportunities. Leader Center programs, with the exception of trips and meals, will be free for members.

The book club will meet on Monday, March 28, at 2:30 p.m. to discuss "American Dirt" by Jeanine Cummins. On Wednesday, March 30, at 2 p.m., independent consumer advocate Mary Bach will present a lecture and discussion on fighting fraud.

A new group, Fiber & Friends, meets on Tuesdays. Anyone who enjoys working with yarn, thread, fabric, and more may drop in between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. No skills are necessary; beginners are welcome. For more information, contact susan.josenhans@gmail.com.

Appointments may now be made for AARP free tax assistance. To make an appointment, people must either be fully vaccinated or produce a negative PCR COVID test within 48 hours of the appointment, and they must wear a mask while in the building. They must also have had their taxes prepared by this program in the past five years. Appointments are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The center will offer several day trips, as well. Attendees must be fully vaccinated. The schedule is as follows: Baltimore Dine-Around, Thursday, June 9, with reservations necessary by Sunday, May 1, and Valor and Honor Trip to West Point/Hudson River, Tuesday, Aug. 30, with reservations necessary by Sunday, July 17.
