Kreutz Creek Library will officially introduce its new space to the community during its grand opening celebration from Monday, April 11, through Saturday, April 16, at 66 Walnut Springs Road, Hellam. The 8,800-square-foot structure previously served as the Hellam Township building and has been fully renovated into a library. Funds for the project were raised through the "Imagine. Discover. Connect." capital campaign. York County Libraries president Robert F. Lambert noted that for 42 years, the library was located in a 1,200-square-foot FEMA trailer.
The festivities will kick off at 9 a.m. on April 11 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, including comments from Lambert and new Kreutz Creek Library manager Jennifer Johnson. Tours of the new library will follow and run until 10:30 a.m. Refreshments will be available.
Special events on Tuesday, April 12, will be a story time with Miss Felicia at Flinchbaugh's Orchards and Farm Market, 110 Ducktown Road, Hellam, at 10 a.m. and Book Dominoes, a tween and teen program hosted by The Danger Club at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
Miss Felicia will offer Baby and Toddler Story Time at the library at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, and Preschool Story Time at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 15. The Friends of the Library will host library tours from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 14.
The grand opening celebration will wrap up with a showcase and open house on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community members may explore the library and connect with members of the Friends group, knitters' gathering, cookbook discussion group, teen volunteer group, and others. The event will also include cupcake decorating from 10 a.m. to noon while supplies last, as well as giveaways. Story times with Miss Felicia will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The library is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is closed on Sundays. Masks are optional. For more information, call the library at 717-252-4080.
