The public is invited to join Penn State Extension and the Penn State Agriculture and Environment Center's Greening the Lower Susquehanna Program for Riparian Buffer Maintenance, an opportunity to help maintain a previously planted riparian buffer, on Saturday, April 23, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at the Swatara Creek on Fulling Mill Road, Middletown.
Riparian buffers are considered a cost-effective way to protect waterways and keep the water clean. Riparian buffers require some assistance in the first few years to help them succeed. Attendees will learn the basics of buffer maintenance and gain hands-on experience while helping maintain a buffer.
The event is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required. For details and registration, visit http://www.extension.psu.edu and search for "Riparian Buffer Maintenance."
