Borough Seeks Input On Future Development

The Millersville Borough Planning Commission will hold a meeting focused on the Millersville Comprehensive Plan on Thursday, May 5, at Eshleman Elementary School, 545 Leaman Ave. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m., preceded by a 6:30 p.m. open house to allow persons to informally review maps.

The comprehensive plan is an overall set of policies for the development and conservation of various areas of Millersville over the next 10 years. The plan addresses land uses, housing, transportation, community facilities, natural features, sustainability, and ways to carry out the plan. The comprehensive plan will include recommendations for updates to certain zoning regulations, in addition to other policies.

Topics of the upcoming meeting will include where new businesses should be encouraged; what types of housing should be allowed in various areas, particularly on lands near Routes 999 and 743; how to protect existing neighborhoods; necessary street and parks and trails improvements; ways to make Millersville safer and more convenient for pedestrians and bicyclists; improving environmental sustainability; and fostering greater cooperation between the Millersville University and Millersville Borough.

Two additional public meetings will be scheduled in the future.
