Humane Pennsylvania will celebrate National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, Saturday, April 30, with a three-day, fee-waived adoption event. From Friday, April 29, to Sunday, May 1, at the Berks and Lancaster County adoption centers, Humane Pennsylvania will give community members the opportunity to adopt a shelter dog, cat, or critter with all adoption fees waived. The event's sponsors are Rob and Margy, in memory of their cousin Barbara V. Andrews.
Adoptions include Humane Pennsylvania's 30-day Adoption Health Supplement; spaying or neutering prior to adoption; vaccinations, including current rabies vaccination and de-worming medication; flea treatment; microchipping and chip registration; and a 1-pound bag of Science Diet pet food.
Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter campuses or http://www.humanepa.org/adoption to learn about and meet adoptable animals. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania's adoption screening process; approval is not guaranteed.
