Summer Recreation Programs Set

A Boys' Volleyball Camp will be offered to students in grades six through 10 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11, through Thursday, July 14. The camp will be held at Daubert Gym in Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS), 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown. It will focus on the basic skills of volleyball while combining individual drills, team drills, and team competition. Campers should wear sneakers. A T-shirt is included in the fee.

A Girls' Lacrosse Camp will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on July 11 through July 14 at Field 1 at EAHS. Campers in grades five through eight will improve on their fundamentals of the game while playing fun lacrosse games. A T-shirt is included in the fee.

Two tai chi classes will be held in the basement of Masonic Village Carpenter Chapel, 1244 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown, on Tuesdays, July 12 to Sept. 13. Introduction to Tai Chi will be held from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. A simple 10-step Taiji form will introduce students to the basic postures appearing in many tai chi forms. Attention will be given to relaxation, basic alignment and how to move safely. The class is geared to those who are new to tai chi or have not practiced in years.

Advanced Tai Chi (Forms, Weapons and San Shou) will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. After learning the 10-step form in the introductory class, participants will integrate the postures with new moves. Sword and other weapon forms will be gradually introduced and integrated with additional hand forms.

Making Budgets Work will be presented by M & T Bank to adults age 18 and older on Wednesday, July 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Topics will be identifying personal obstacles to budgeting; creating a structure to track and analyze spending; short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals; the importance of reducing debt and building emergency savings; and strategies to manage day-to-day spending. The class is free, but preregistration is required.

All-Comers Track Meets will be held on Thursdays, June 23 and July 7 and 28. The meets are open to everyone and will take place at 6 p.m. at the track at EAHS. People of all skill levels are welcome. The meets are non-sanctioned and non-qualifying.
