The Village Library in Morgantown will host a "Rock the Library" fundraiser on Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. Activities will include story time, face painting, a sale of baked goods and a touch-a-truck activity featuring vehicles from the Twin Valley Fire Department. Attendees will also be able to paint kindness rocks for the library's garden.
According to Maria Gerasklis-Long, library director, the idea for "Rock the Library" was spearheaded by the sponsorship of Iron Mountains, a local company that has been helping to renovate the library with indoor and now outdoor projects. The outside gardens were in need of care, so the company decided it would donate time to hardscape the front gardens. Iron Mountains began the garden makeover on July 22.
At the event on July 30, the Friends of the Village Library will invite families to donate a fee per rock to which they can add messages or images of positivity. This is the first phase of what hopes to be an eventual outdoor story area. The library has already received new wooden seating for the outdoor story area, which was donated by Wolf Creek Live Edge.
"Rock the Library" is a rain-or-shine event. No registration is required. This is a free event except for the bake sale and the purchasing of the kindness rocks, which will benefit the Village Library.
