Diakon Youth Services will hold its annual Outdoor Adventure Challenge at the Diakon Wilderness Center, 571 Mountain Road, Boiling Springs, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m., and the trail run/walk will begin at 9 a.m.
Set on the mountainous trails of the wilderness center, the course is off-road and does include some steep inclines. The event will also include a half-mile fun run, along with children's activities such as a giant inflatable slide and petting zoo.
The challenge consists of a 5K trail walk/run, with prizes awarded to the top three finishers in all age groups, as well as overall top three male and female participants. The 5K awards ceremony will take place at 10 a.m., with all other activities continuing until noon or 1 p.m.
Participants who preregister will receive lunch and use of the center's zipline, Alpine Tower, giant swing, climbing wall, and high ropes course. Finish line and chip-timing services will be provided by Pretzel City Sports. Proceeds will benefit Diakon's services for at-risk adolescents and young adults.
