The Dauphin County 4-H Fair took place from Aug. 8 to 10 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. Members exhibited projects they have been working on for most of the year. Project categories ranged from Animal Science to Expressive Arts.
The 4-H Fair began on Aug. 8 with the Family Living, 4-H Opportunities, Poultry, Pets, Small Animal, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goat, and Horse Grooming and Showmanship competitions. Activities on Aug. 9 were the Horse Show, Rabbit, and Cavy events, followed by Small Animal, Family Living, and 4-H Opportunities Clover. Participants finished the evening with the Swine Skillathon. The 4-H Fair ended on Aug. 10 with Sheep, Beef, Dairy, Dairy Beef, Market, and Meat Goat followed by Large Animal Clover.
The awards and winners included: Family Living Senior Champion, Alexandria Neff, Harrisburg; Family Living Senior Reserve Champion, Abigail Nissley, Middletown; Family Living Junior Champion, Felicity Astalk, Hummelstown; Family Living Junior Reserve Champion, Rylie Mentzer, Halifax; 4-H Opportunities Senior Champion, Madison Shaw, Harrisburg; 4-H Opportunities Senior Reserve Champion, Alexandria Neff, Harrisburg; 4-H Opportunities Junior Champion, Ellasandra English, Hummelstown; and 4-H Opportunities Junior Reserve Champion, Nathaniel English, Hummelstown.
Also, Large Animal Clover Senior Champion, Kelsey Dobbin, Halifax; Large Animal Clover Senior Reserve Champion, Rylie Geib, Manheim; Large Animal Clover Junior Champion, Elizabeth Alspaugh, Middletown; Large Animal Clover Junior Reserve Champion, Madison Dobbin, Halifax; Small Animal Senior Champion, Alyssa Neff, Harrisburg; Small Animal Clover Senior Reserve Champion, Keegan Tilley, Harrisburg; Small Animal Junior Champion, Kiersten Sabolsky, Halifax; and Small Animal Junior Reserve Champion, Chesney Romberger, Millersburg.
