4-H Fair Scheduled

The Penn State Extension of Dauphin County 4-H Clubs will hold their annual 4-H Fair on Thursday, Aug. 8, through Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Farm Show Complex, 2300 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg. The free 4-H Fair will be open to the public on Aug. 8 from noon to 7 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The 4-H Fair is an exhibition of 4-H animal, family living, and opportunities projects. Animals will be available for petting, and 4-H members and leaders will be present to answer questions. On Aug. 8, 4-H members will exhibit family living projects, 4-H opportunities projects, poultry, small animals, pets, dairy cattle, and dairy goats. Horses, rabbits, and cavies will be shown on Aug. 9. The Swine Skillathon will take place on Aug. 10, and sheep, beef, dairy beef, market goats, and market breeding goats will be shown.

The Large Animal Clover Competition will be held on Aug. 10 at approximately 5 p.m. During the competition, the 4-H Clubs will hold an auction, and items up for bids will include chainsaw carvings by Brian Wilson. The event will conclude with the Large Animal Clover Competition awards ceremony.
