Fulton Posts Winter Youth Classes

The Fulton Theatre has announced that registration is now open for its Winter Academy of Theatre. All classes will be held virtually on Saturdays, Feb. 13 to March 27. They will be led by the Fulton's teaching artists.

Story Time Theater, for children ages 3 to 5, will be held from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Led by Melissa Blatherwick, children will engage in dramatic play and learn stories from around the world.

Sing and Act Out! will be offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Children ages 5 to 7 will use their bodies, voices, and imaginations and develop their cooperation skills as they explore stories and take imaginary journeys with Blatherwick. Sessions will include music, dance, and visual art.

Improvisation for Elementary, for children in grades three to six, will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. In this course, led by Peter Reeves, students will take on the roles of actors, writers, and audience members as they seek to build confidence and communication skills while creating strong characters.

Sing, Dance, Act will be available to students in grades two through six from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants will join Amanda Snarski to create scenes and musical numbers while developing strong physical characters and character voices.

Musical Theater for Teens will take place from 10 to 11:15 a.m. It is open to youths in grades six through 12. Under the leadership of Snarski, teens will dissect scenes, create dance routines, and develop musicianship and vocal skills. Those who have previously taken this class may sign up again as they will study new material and build upon existing skills.

Improvisation for Teens will be open to students in grades six through 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Led by Reeves, teens will learn the basic rules of improv as they hone acting skills like active listening and spontaneity and seek to better understand character, circumstance, time, place, emotion, and action.
