On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Saddlebag Riders TEAM of Motorcyclists for Jesus Ministries (MJM) will host a motorcycle rally at Bethany Evangelical Congregational (E.C.) Church of Creswell, 1165 Letort Road, Conestoga.
Motorcyclists can arrive at the church as early as 9 a.m., and the ride will take off around 10 a.m. through York County. Members from the ministry will ride as a group, and participants are welcome to join or go at their own pace.
Saddlebag Riders TEAM president Chuck Moore noted this will be the fourth ride.
"It's always a nice ride," said Moore. "We're hoping for a good turnout with more people."
There is no cost to participate, but donations will be accepted for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which was founded by a group of veterans from Roanoke, Va., in 2003. The WWP aims to help injured military members through a variety of services in career counseling, mental health, police advocacy, and long-term rehabilitative care. In 2020, over 1,350 military personnel, caregivers, and family members signed up each month to receive assistance from the WWP.
After the ride, participants will return to the church for a free pulled pork barbecue meal and refreshments at the pavilion. The event will be held rain or shine.
MJM's mission is to enjoy motorcycling and to share God's love. TEAM stands for "Telling Everyone About Messiah." The Saddlebag Riders' theme verse is Matthew 28:19, which relays the words of Jesus Christ when He commissioned His followers to make disciples.
