The York Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has awarded one graduate and one undergraduate scholarship to local college students for the fall semester.
Cassidy Camplese, who graduated from Penn State University with a major in chemistry, has received $3,000. She intends to pursue a Master of Education degree in hopes of becoming a high school chemistry teacher and eventually an educator at the university level.
A current full-time student at Penn State York, Mindy Gruzin received a $1,500 award. Gruzin, who is majoring in biology with a focus on pre-med, plans to graduate in 2020, then attend medical school to become a physician, with a focus on public health research.
AAUW presented the awards at its banquet in May. Proceeds from its Spring Market Faire benefit the annual scholarship fund.
