AmTryke Derby Planned

Sep 19, 2021 - 1:00 pm

Lancaster AMBUCS will hold its first-ever Lancaster AmTryke Derby on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development, 625 Community Way, Lancaster.

The event's purpose is to provide an opportunity for the approximately 85 AmTrykes recipients from the past five years to gather to ride their trykes, share experiences and enjoy an afternoon of activities.

AmTrykes are specially designed three-wheeled vehicles given by AMBUCS to children and young adults whose physical conditions require them to keep their hands and feet active to avoid contraction and increase strength.

All AmTryke riders and their families are invited to attend the event, which will include noncompetitive riding courses, entertainment and refreshments. In the case of rain, the event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 26.

The chief mission of the Lancaster AMBUCS chapter, a Lancaster-based service organization dating to 1925, is to purchase, build and grant AmTrykes.
