And The Bidding Will Start At ...

In March, Solid Rock Youth Ministries hosted an open house to celebrate its 25th anniversary of serving the Quarryville community. People were able to drop in, meet the team, see the space, and learn about Solid Rock's mission, which is to earn trust through authentic mentoring relationships with kids in kindergarten through 12th grade so lives can be changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To accomplish this mission, Solid Rock offers several activities throughout the year, including after-school programs, art and drama programs, family fun events, and more.

As Solid Rock continues to celebrate its anniversary, the board and staff have decided to reorganize its schedule of annual fundraising events. This year, the farm-to-table event will take place in late July, the 5K and Fun Run is planned for early October, and the auction and dinner has been moved from the fall to the spring. Solid Rock has been hosting the annual auction and dinner since 2003, but the event has not been held in person since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was modified and moved to an online format in 2020 and 2021; however, this year, it will look a lot like it did pre-pandemic.

Solid Rock's annual auction and dinner will take place on Tuesday, April 26, at Wesley Church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville. The doors will open and the silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. Dinner, which will consist of ham, a baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, a roll, and dessert, will be served at 6 p.m. Following dinner and the silent auction, a short video will be shown to celebrate Solid Rock's anniversary, and then a live auction will begin at 7:10 p.m.

"Just being back in person is really exciting," stated executive director Raeanne Nixon. "Our events feel like a real big family reunion. I'm looking forward to coming back together, sharing what God is doing, and celebrating the 25-year anniversary of Solid Rock."

Items up for bids will include a two-person kayak, furniture, gift baskets, baked goods, homemade items, a Milwaukee drill set, and electronics. There will also be a handmade quilt created by a volunteer using the handprints of students who attend Solid Rock.

"There's always an excitement in the air with being able to bid live," noted Dana Nixon, who helps plan the event.

Raeanne and Dana emphasized that they are thankful to everyone who has donated to the auction and dinner. "A lot of people and local businesses have been very generous," said Raeanne.

Preregistration for the annual auction and dinner is required and must be done by Friday, April 15. To preregister, visit http://www.solidrockquarryville.com/auction-2022 or call 717-786-8007.
