Blue Ball Area Lioness Club will sell homemade Easter candy, including peanut butter eggs and coconut eggs. Mixed boxes will also be sold. Order must be submitted by Friday, March 1.
Club members will begin making candy at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, and Monday, April 1, and volunteers are sought to help. Last year, the club produced 1,318 pounds of candy in 22 hours. The egg-making first took place in 1987, and in 1994 it moved from homes of Lioness members to the Blue Ball Fire Hall. The club now has a candy-coating machine.
The Lioness Club is seeking new members. Its fundraisers help local organizations and individuals, including CrossNet Ministries, Make-A-Wish, Water Street Mission, Welsh Mountain Home, and more, as well as helping to provide a scholarship each year to an Eastern Lancaster County School District graduate. The club meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the community room at Garden Spot Fire and Rescue Hall.
