The annual Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania's (VROCP) Vision Bowl will take place on Monday, July 12, at ABC East lanes, 1001 Eisenhower Blvd., Harrisburg, at 6 p.m. During the low vision awareness event, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the major diseases that lead to vision loss.
Following a friendly, fun warm-up game and some refreshments, the real challenge of the competition is during the second game when bowlers will compete for bragging rights and trophies. Participants will be required to bowl wearing one of four special lightweight eyeglasses that emulate what a person with glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts sees.
Competitors must bowl in teams of four, and the team entry fee includes shoes, a souvenir T-shirt, and a snack. For details and registration and to become a sponsor, contact Cheryl Cuddy at ccuddy@vrocp.org.
