Author Slates Book Signings

Karen Emenheiser (formerly Karen Avers) has written her first book, "Unbecoming: How to Find the Courage and Confidence to Live an Amazing Life." In the book, Emenheiser shares her 20 years of experiences and observations as a therapist, life coach, mother, and military spouse. She also draws from Scripture to offer up the courage to take risks and live unashamed.

Originally from Mount Joy, Emenheiser has lived all over the United States and in England as a military spouse. She has a master's in social work and has worked as an in-home family therapist for families with emotionally disturbed children. After marrying, she began serving military families returning from combat deployments. She also became a part-time certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. For the last three years, Emenheiser has been a therapist for the 3rd Marine Corps Regiment in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.

Emenheiser plans two upcoming book signings: Thursday, June 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Comfort Suites, 543 Champ Blvd., Manheim, and Saturday, June 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Caffeinated Bookworm, 245 Centerville Road, Lancaster.
