Lititz Plans Its 204th Fourth Of July Celebration
The celebration that was first observed in 1818 will return to Lititz Springs Park, 24 N. Broad St., Lititz, for the Fourth of July weekend. Organizers are promoting the event as a time to "Go Fourth with hope and unity," and a number of special activities are planned to celebrate.
On Friday, July 2, at 7 p.m., a free concert by Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods will be held in the park bandshell. During the concert intermission, the Queen of the Candles ceremony will be held, and the candles in the stream will be lit. Tickets are not necessary to attend, but freewill donations will be received during the event.
On Saturday, July 3, gates will open at noon. A limited number of wristbands, which must be prepurchased, will be sold for this event. The opening ceremony, including the national anthem and bell ringing, will be held at 1 p.m. Entertainment will include the New Holland Community Band at 1:15 p.m., Nearly York at 3 p.m., and the U.S. Air National Guard Band at 5 p.m. Light Up the Moon will play at 7 p.m. A dance party featuring a disc jockey will be held at the fireworks field at 9 p.m., and the event will conclude with fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
