An all-volunteer effort has been launched by Servants Inc. to conduct baseball skills clinics in rural villages in Uganda in July. Little League baseball was introduced to Uganda in 2002, and by 2012, a team from Lugazi became the first African team to compete in the Little League World Series. The coach, Henry Odong, will host Servants' volunteers while in Uganda this July.
The clinics are open to children ages 5 to 18. Servants is looking for donations of new or lightly used baseball equipment for this project. Donations may be dropped off on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Servants, 100 Redco Ave., Suite C-0, Red Lion.
A 501(c)(3) organization based in Red Lion, Servants is an evangelical Christian organization ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of people in need. For more information, readers may contact Lisa Sica at 717-378-0352 or lisasica@servants.org.
