The Hempfield High School baseball team will hold its First Pitch event on Friday, March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria of the high school, 200 Stanley Ave., Landisville. The event is open to the community, and doors will open at 5:45 p.m. During the event, the 2022 baseball team members and staff will be introduced.
Attendees will have opportunities to place bids in a blind auction that will run throughout the first hour of the program. The items up for bids have been donated by local businesses and families and include sports memorabilia, tickets to entertainment events, auto detailing, and a hot air balloon ride. Many other prize baskets and items will also be available in a drawing.
An admission fee will be charged for adults, and youths will be admitted for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Hot dogs, soft pretzels, chips, desserts, and soft drinks will be available for all attendees at no additional cost.
Attendees are asked to bring a jar of peanut butter for the Power Packs Project. The nonprofit organization provides food to children and families in the Hempfield School District who have financial need. Each person who brings a jar of peanut butter will be given three free giveaway drawing tickets.
First Pitch is hosted by the Hempfield Baseball Booster Club. Proceeds will help to support the baseball program by paying for indoor facility rentals, uniform supplements, equipment, and more.
