Baumer To Address Vietnam Round Table

The Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet on Thursday, May 9, at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel MOH Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 7:30 p.m.

Following a brief business meeting, Dick Baumer from West Palm Beach, Fla., will discuss his experiences in Vietnam as the commander of the 62nd Infantry Platoon (Combat Tracker) assigned to the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Air Cavalry Division from January 1969 through January 1970.

Following Baumer's service in Vietnam, he remained in the Army for six years, serving in various positions. Following his active-duty service, he served in the Army Reserve for 22 years.

He was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Star, and other awards. He has one son, Christopher, and two granddaughters, Sophie and Gwen.

The meeting is open to the public, and, as a volunteer organization, the group passes a Vietnam veterans' hat to collect freewill donations.
