The Musselman Vesta Iron Furnace Center, 26 Furnace Road, Marietta, will be the site of an educational program about bluebirds by Lancaster County Parks ranger Lisa Sanchez on Saturday, May 11, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The program is part of the Lancaster County Parks and Recreation summer educational program.
Participants will learn about birds, including the forms of their beaks and feet, as well as feather studies. Options will include binocular walks, bird sounds, bird feeding, the Bird Beak Buffet game, a bluebird trail walk, bird box building, and nest examinations and building.
Bluebird houses will be constructed. The houses will be placed in the meadow area of the Chickies Day Use Park. There will be take-home plans for do-it-yourself bluebird houses.
There is no charge for the program, but donations will be accepted.
