Bluegrass Gospel Program Planned

On Saturday, Feb. 1, Farm Country Shindig will present an evening of bluegrass gospel music featuring Summit Hill and Canaan's Land Bluegrass at the Reinholds Fire Company banquet hall, which is located along Route 897 at 138 W. Main St., Reinholds.

Summit Hill is a group of multi-talented and experienced bluegrass musicians and singers. Each band member has an average of more than 20 years of working with various bluegrass bands. Ron McVey from Strasburg plays the old-time bluegrass fiddle and sings some lead. He is following in the footsteps of his late grandfather. Tim Kilby from Quarryville sings baritone and plays guitar. He also plays dobro and bass fiddle and sings lead and bass. Keith Kupp from Adamstown plays banjo and sings tenor. Performing along with Summit Hill on Feb. 1 will be Max Allison on the upright bass and Harold Tipton on mandolin.

Canaan's Land Bluegrass is committed to providing top-notch traditional bluegrass music with a sprinkling of new era sounds. The members are Dave Dulaney, Steve Waldon, and Tim Lyne. A performer of bluegrass and country music with bands for more than 20 years, Dulaney plays guitar and mandolin and sings lead, tenor, and baritone. Waldon plays banjo, and his style has been influenced by Earl Scruggs, Don Reno, and Eddie Adcock. Lyne, the newest member of the band, plays the upright bass and guitar. He previously performed with the Roots of Bluegrass.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the music will begin at 6 p.m. Food will be available by the Reinholds Fire Company. There is a requested donation amount per person, with different amounts requested for adults and for teenagers ages 13 to 17. The event will be free for children age 12 and under.
