Landis Quality Living recently announced the appointment of two new members, Gwen Schuit and Stephanie Kaufman, to its board of directors.
Schuit has served as CEO of Friendship Community for 10 years. Previously, she served as an administrator at both Willow Valley Communities and as a vice president at Tel Hai Retirement Community. Schuit holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Education from Widener University. She had further studies at Millersville University for her nursing home administrator license. She worked in a variety of hospital settings and taught neurology and other subjects at Chester County School of Nursing and Brandywine School of Nursing. Schuit currently serves on the boards of Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability and Resource Partners. Schuit and her husband, Gordon, live in Lititz.
Kaufman is a registered nurse and a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, and she has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millersville University. Throughout her 45-year nursing career, she has worked in a variety of health care settings. In 2019, she retired from the Lancaster County Office of Aging after 22 years of employment there as a registered nurse consultant. Currently, she is employed by Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences as a standardized patient in the simulation lab. She is an active member of East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, serving as chairperson of the pastor congregation relations committee. She also volunteers with the Strasburg Sertoma Club and the Strasburg Heritage Society. Stephanie and her husband, H. Dale Kaufman, live in Strasburg. They have two children and two grandchildren.
