The Spring Grove Area School District board of school directors recently announced the recommendation of George W. Ioannidis for the position of superintendent. The board was scheduled to vote on the appointment of Ioannidis on Feb. 25 during its regular voting meeting.
Ioannidis is currently the business manager and board secretary of the Spring Grove Area School District, a position he has held since 2009. He started his career in public school administration in 1993 at Donegal School District, taking his experience also to Manheim Central and Harrisburg School districts.
Prior to beginning his service in education, Ioannidis worked as an acquisition manager for the U.S. Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C., and as a project manager for Ferranti International, a multinational defense firm based in Lancaster. Ioannidis expects to earn his doctorate in educational leadership in May through a program offered jointly by Shippensburg and Millersville universities.
The board of school directors has put forth the recommendation after performing a thorough search process that included district tours; extensive interviews; meet-and-greet forums with staff, students, and community members; and feedback gathered from district stakeholders. The information received throughout the superintendent search from the aforementioned stakeholders was fully considered by the board.
