Book Clubs Post Plans

Lancaster Public Library, 125 N. Duke St., Lancaster, will offer several book clubs in February. Unless otherwise noted, all programs will take place at the Duke Street location.

RomCom Reads Book Club will discuss "Well Met" by Jen DeLuca at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4. The club meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m., Discovering Short Stories: A Discussion Group will discuss J.D. Salinger's "Just Before the War with the Eskimos" and "Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut." The History Book Club will discuss "The Pioneers: The Heroic Story of the Settlers Who Brought the American Ideal West" by David McCullough on Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. Both clubs meet on the first Wednesday of the month.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, Books on Tap will discuss "Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances" by Neil Gaiman at 8 p.m. The group meets at The Federal Taphouse, 201 N. Queen St., Lancaster, on the second Wednesday of the month, and participants must be age 21 and older.

The Thursday Book Group will discuss Haruki Murakami's "Kafka on the Shore" on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. The group meets on the second Thursday of the month.

Into the Strange: A Science Fiction Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to discuss "Blackfish City" by Sam J. Miller. The club meets on the last Tuesday of the month.

The Noveltea Book Club at the Mountville Branch, 120 College Ave., Mountville, will gather at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, to discuss "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Savon. The club meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Mountville Branch.

In addition to book clubs, TED Circles hosted by TEDxLancaster will take place at 2 p.m. on Feb. 13. TED Circles is a new TED initiative where community members come together to watch a TED Talk video and then discuss and debate the ideas from the talk. The goal of TEDxLancaster's TED Circles is to have a dialogue from diverse points of view, so that attendees can learn about different perspectives, philosophies, and perceptions in a safe, open, welcoming, and informal environment. The goal is to promote inclusion, tolerance, understanding, and empathy and create an informative, thought-provoking, and educational culture. The discussions will be moderated.
