Brillhart Named As Solicitor

The York County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court has announced the appointment of a new solicitor for the office. MacGregor J. Brillhart, esquire, was named solicitor by Bryan K. Tate, Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court. Tate is serving his first term.

Brillhart's practice is focused in all areas of estate planning, estate administration, elder law, and fiduciary litigation. In addition, he has frequently appeared before the York County Orphans' Court in matters relating to incapacity hearings, guardianships and adoptions.

Brillhart is past president of the York County Bar Association and is a member of the Bar's Estate Planning and Probate Law Section. Brillhart and Tate work closely together through their involvement and leadership in Leave a Legacy York County, where Brillhart chairs the Professional Advisor Committee and Tate chairs the Program Committee, and in York County Estate Planning Council, where both are past chairs of the council. Together, Tate and Brillhart serve the York Rotary Charitable Endowment Fund board of directors as president and vice president, respectively.

Tate was sworn in as Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court on January 3, 2020. He is primarily responsible for the administration of estates and to act as an agent of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in the collection of inheritance taxes. In addition, he oversees proceedings of the Orphans' Court including maintaining dockets and files for petitions of incapacitated persons, appointments of guardians, adoptions, and issuing marriage licenses.
