All children ages 8 to 12 and their parents or guardians are invited to participate in the HighHOPES Miniature Horse Challenge at Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA), Station Road, Grantville, on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The course is designed to promote healthy choices, effective communication skills, problem-solving and volunteerism using equine-assisted (horse-assisted) learning. Horse experience is not required. Children will experience hands-on, fun activities, while learning proper horse handling.
The program is offered free of charge, though donations toward CATRA's equine therapy program will be accepted. To register, readers may visit http://www.catra.net/miniature-horse-challenge/. Additional dates in 2020 can be found in the calendar at http://www.catra.net.
