Church Posts Youth Musical

Mar 27, 2021 -

St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster, will offer the next concert in its 2020-2021 Musical Arts Concert Series on Saturday, March 27, at 7 p.m. The church's children and youths will be featured in a prerecorded musical titled "The Singing Bishop," which will be available to view at http://www.youtube.com/stpeterslutheranlancaster.

The musical focuses on the legend surrounding the Palm Sunday hymn "All Glory, Laud, and Honor." In the musical, Theodulph, a bishop who lived in the eighth century, is jailed over Palm Sunday under suspicion of treason against the king. While the king is participating in a Palm Sunday procession through the town, he hears Theodulph singing "All Glory, Laud, and Honor" from his jail cell. The king realizes that Theodulph is not trying to overthrow him and orders the bishop's release. All the people then learn the song to celebrate Jesus Christ.

Preparation for the production included outdoor music and dance practice, dialogue recorded via Zoom, and mixed audio and video recordings.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church continues to livestreamed Sunday worship services at 10:45 a.m. at http://www.stpeterslutheran.org/live. The church will celebrate Palm Sunday, March 28, and Easter, April 4, at 10:45 a.m.
