"Living the Experience" is a creative, spiritual, and interactive historical re-enactment of the Underground Railroad, as it occurred on site at the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lancaster. Lititz United Methodist Church (LUMC) will sponsor a trip to the experience on Saturday, Nov. 6.
"Living the Experience" seeks to provide an honest portrayal of the experiences of those involved in the Underground Railroad, from the stories that are told through the spirituals that are sung. Following the re-enactment, an ethnic buffet-style meal is served.
The dramatic event and meal will be coupled with a short walking tour of sites located close to the church. Vendors may be on-site at the event. Organizers suggest that carpooling groups leave from LUMC, 201 Market St., Lititz, at 8:30 a.m. The event will conclude at 2 p.m.
There is a cost to attend, with a discount for children ages 6 to 12. For details and registration, contact Linda at raven303@ptd.net or 717-626-0745. Registration will be confirmed when payment is made. The deadline to register with payment is Sunday, Oct. 24.
