First Baptist Church, 3375 Druck Valley Road, York, will present Re-Creation in two public performances. On Saturday, June 29, at 7 p.m., the nine performers of Re-Creation's 44th edition will present "Classic!" The concert will highlight popular American songs and will also include patriotic music in honor of America's hospitalized veterans and troops. On Sunday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m., the group will present a service of Christian worship titled "Classic: The Worship Suite." Both performances are open to the public; freewill offerings will be received.
Re-Creation, based in Port Trevorton, began in 1976. In 1983, the group assumed full responsibility for the national VA program and since then has attempted to raise necessary funding and present shows for medical centers nationwide. Re-Creation now presents more than 150 shows yearly in VA Medical Centers and State Veterans Homes in all 50 states.
The group's sacred program is designed as a worship service and features both traditional and contemporary styles of music, sing-along hymns and children's songs, dramatic works and original music.
Ample parking is available at First Baptist Church, and the church sanctuary is handicapped-accessible. For more information, readers may call the church office at 717-600-0077.
