Approximately 75 first responders and family members visited Petra Church in New Holland on June 2 for its First Responder Appreciation Day. The annual event was designed to thank first responders for their courage, commitment, and service.
Senior pastor Lester Zimmerman shared a message titled "Loving My Neighbor" at both the 9 and 11 a.m. services. First responders received free tickets to a Reading Fightin Phils game and a complimentary pizza meal after the 11 a.m. service.
First responders were invited to attend in uniform and to drive their emergency vehicles to Petra. Emergency vehicles included a Fivepointville Fire Company truck, a Gordonville fire ladder truck, a ladder truck and a fire truck from Garden Spot Fire New Holland, a Garden Spot Blue Ball fire truck, a White Horse fire rescue truck, a New Holland ambulance, a Gordonville ambulance, an advanced life support vehicle from WellSpan, a New Holland police car, and a JeffSTAT helicopter.
