Four men and three women students attended the NRA Basic Pistol Class on March 24 at the Conewago Rod and Gun Club, located off Turnpike Road in Elizabethtown. The course was led by NRA-certified instructors Scott Deiter and Al Conrad. The course delivery and coaching was made possible with the help of Ken Lewis and Bob Ardner.
The class ran from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and participants enjoyed a lunch of pizza. The students were taught safe pistol handling, gun owner's responsibilities, pistol types/parts, and ammunition characteristics. The course concluded with a live fire exercise at the club range with one-on-one coaching followed by the exam. Each of the students met the goals set forth by the NRA and will receive a completion certificate.
The next class has been scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29. To register, readers may contact Deiter via email at training@conewagogunclub.org.
