Hikers should wear appropriate attire, including hiking boots, and bring water, a lunch, and/or snacks.
A 3- to 4-mile will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16. Participants should meet at Bridgeway Church, 255 Reynolds Road, York, at the back of the parking lot. At 1:30 p.m., attendees will take a leisurely hike down the hill to Lake Williams and then head back up the hill on a different path. Afterward, there will be an optional walk to Perrydell Dairy for ice cream. For more details, call Sarah and Lou Tateosian at 717-741-2652.
On Sunday, Oct. 24, a group will hike a flat section of the Appalachian Trail starting at the Wertzville Road parking area. Four- and 8-mile options will be available, with the longer hike venturing to Boiling Springs. Hikers will see Scott Farm Trail and Work Center, Bernhisel Bridge at Conodoguinet Creek, footbridges over Route 11 and Interstate 81, and more. Attendees may bring a snack to share. Participants will gather at the Red Robin restaurant parking area at the York Galleria for an 8 a.m. departure, with the hike beginning at 9 a.m. Those who plan to attend are asked to call Janine Zell at 717-684-7891. A mystery hike will be offered on Sunday, Oct. 31. Details are forthcoming.
