Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Hike

The Berks Community Strollers will hike at Liberty Fire Company in Sinking Spring on Saturday, March 13, beginning at 10 a.m. The GPS address for the fire company is 836 Ruth St., Reading. For more information, contact Angie, the hike leader, at 484-794-7813.

Fire Tower Hike

The Berks Strollers will join the Elverson Walking Club (EWC) for its annual Fire Tower Hike in French Creek State Park on Sunday, March 14. The Fire Tower Hike is a 3-mile loop hike consisting of 2 miles to the tower, followed by an opportunity to toast marshmallows and hot dogs at the pavilion. Attendees should bring their own marshmallows and hot dogs.

The group will meet hike leaders Allison Garl and Lynn Bates at the Fire Tower Road parking area at 11:30 a.m. The GPS address for the outing is 651 Fire Tower Road, Birdsboro. Pets will be welcome. The rain date for the Fire Tower Hike is Sunday, March 21.

Neighbors Meeting

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian women's group that meets weekly at Conestoga Mennonite Church in Morgantown, will meet on Tuesday, March 16, from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Guest speaker Sharon Charles will present "Letting Go of Adult Children."

Shepherd's Pie Dinner

The Hay Creek Valley Historical Association will offer a St. Patrick's Day shepherd's pie dinner on Wednesday, March 17, at Historic Joanna Furnace, 1250 Furnace Road, Geigertown. Cancer Support Group

A cancer support group will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown. The meeting is open to anyone who has ever been diagnosed with any form of cancer past or present. For more information, contact Cheryl at 610-762-0002 or csgcmc@ptd.net.

Chicken Barbecue

A chicken barbecue dinner fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 20, at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, 210 Weaverland Valley Road, East Earl, and Yoder's, 14 S. Tower Road, New Holland, to benefit Miriam and Darryl Weaver, missionaries serving with EMM in Germany. Dinners will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The cost of a meal will include a half-chicken, coleslaw, applesauce, a cookie, and a beverage. For details, search for "Weaver Family Outreach in Germany" on Facebook

Turkey Supper

Caernarvon Fire Company, 2145 Main St., Churchtown, will host a drive-through turkey supper on Saturday, March 20. Dinners will be available for pickup only from 1 p.m. until sold out. Gates will open at 12:45 p.m.
