Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone. Send news releases to Engle Publishing Company, Community Courier, P.O. Box 500, Mount Joy, PA 17552. Support Group

Kacie's Cause, Parkesburg Chapter, will offer a support group for friends and family of addicted loved ones on Wednesday, March 24 (and every Wednesday), at 7 p.m. in the chapel at The Parkesburg POINT youth center, 700 Main St., Parkesburg. An in-person Narcotics Anonymous meeting will be held on Thursday, March 25 (and every Thursday) at 5 p.m. at Impact Church, 101 E. First Ave., Parkesburg.

Easter Egg Sale

Boy Scout Troop 20 of Atglen will hold its annual Easter egg fundraiser. The troop is selling four packs of Dutch-Way's peanut butter eggs, with a choice of milk or white chocolate coating; coconut cream eggs, with a choice of milk or dark chocolate coating; and buttercream eggs, with a milk chocolate coating. A fee will be charged for each pack. Proceeds will directly support the Scouts.

Orders can be placed with individual Scouts or through fundraisers@atglenscouts.org. Orders are due by Thursday, March 25, and can be picked up on Tuesday,March 30.

Easter Event

Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, will host a Messy Easter Outdoors event on Saturday, March 27. Children and families are invited to attend at 3, 3:45, or 4:30 p.m. Each session will include five craft/lesson stations and an egg hunt.

Palm Sunday Program

Impact Church, 101 E. First Ave., Parkesburg, will present "Passion: The Musical" on Palm Sunday, March 28, at 10 a.m. In this modern-day, urban concept musical presented by Piercing Word, the Easter story will come alive in a dramatic presentation of the Last Supper, trial, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The free event will detail the historic biblical events in an entertaining and biblically accurate way. The Piercing Word team performs scripture using drama and music, word-for-word from the English Standard Version (ESV) Bible, with the tagline of "The Scripture is Our Script."

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a nonprofit weight loss support group with thousands of chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Locally, a TOPS Chapter will meet on Tuesday, March 30 (and every Tuesday), from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. at the Manor Presbyterian Church, 505 Street Road (Route 926), Cochranville

Cleanup Day

The Parkesburg Action Committee (PAC) will hold spring clean-up day at Minch Park on Saturday, April 3, at 9 a.m. Volunteers will help clean up trash, plant flowers and work on small projects to spruce up the area. All are welcome

Library News

Atglen Public Library (APL) recently announced that the library building will be open from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays for browsing and computer and Wi-Fi use.

Window service will still be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

In-building visits are limited to 30 minutes. Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth by all visitors. If the library reaches capacity, visitors will be asked to wait outside until there is enough room to maintain social distancing.

Final Friday

The Parkesburg Action Committee is gearing up for its Final Friday program that runs on the last Friday of each month, April through October. Final Friday includes a street fair with vendors, live music, displays by community groups and activities for children.
