Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Lenten Study

Glen Moore United Methodist Church, 1920 Creek Road, Glenmoore, will host a Lenten study on Simon Peter at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, (and every Wednesday through April 17). Pastor John Neider and Henry Foehl will co-teach the study. Attendees will discover how they have special gifts, talents, and abilities that God can use to make a difference.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a weight-loss support group, will meet on Thursday, March 28, and every Thursday), at Tel Hai Retirement Community's Garrett Center in Honey Brook. Weigh-in is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6 p.m. The first meeting is free to guests. For information, contact Marcia at 484-238-4559.

"The Addams Family"

Twin Valley High School (TVHS) will present "The Addams Family" as its spring musical. The show will be staged on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 28, 29 and 30, at 7 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee on March 31 at 2 p.m.

Good News Club

The Good News Club will meet on Thursday, March 28 (and every Thursday after school), at the Twin Valley Elementary Center, 50 Mast Drive, Elverson.

Children will be able to enjoy games, songs, Bible stories and Bible verses. The club is free, and all students are welcome.

Community Dinner

St. Peter United Church of Christ, Route 23, Knauertown will hold a community dinner on Friday, March 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to stop in and enjoy food and fellowship. A free will offering will be received. For more information, call 610-469-9690.

Story Time

Honey Brook Community Library, 687 Compass Road (Route 10), Honey Brook, will offer Raise a Reader story time with Miss Melissa at 10 a.m. on Fridays, March 29 through April 12.

The program will feature rhymes, fingerplays, music, and books. Raise a Reader is suited for children from birth to 36 months old.

Breakfast With The Bible

Alan Lindsay, senior warden of the Church of Saint Mary at Calvary in Elverson, will host Breakfast With the Bible on Friday, March 29, at 8:30 a.m. at the Morgantown Coffee House, 4997 N. Twin Valley Road, Elverson.

Attendees should bring a Bible and may enjoy coffee, tea, and/or breakfast. The community is invited to participate.

Strollers Outing

The Berks Strollers will hike the Thun Trail on Saturday, March 30. The group will meet at 10 a.m. at Angstadt Trailhead, located off of Route 724. Participants should enter at Hafer Petroleum, 34 Angstadt Lane, Birdsboro, and then follow signs for the Thun Trail parking lot. Yoga, Line Dancing

Living God Lutheran Church (LGLC) will offer yoga classes and line dancing lessons on Sunday, March 31, at the church, located at 3200 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Honey Brook. Activities are free, but attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items that will be donated to the Honey Brook and Twin Valley food pantries.

The beginner's yoga classes are being offered from 3 to 4 p.m. Attendees should wear appropriate exercise gear and bring their own mats. Country line dancing lessons are held from 6 to 8 p.m. Lessons are designed for beginners or novice dancers.

EWC Hike

The Elverson Waling Club will hike 3 miles at Warwick County Park, in Knauertown on Sunday, March 31. The group will meet at the main parking area close to the new visitors building at 1:30 p.m. The GPS address for the park is 251 County Park Road, Pottstown,

History Program

Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Reading, will host attorney Scott Hoh on Sunday, March 31, at 9:15 a.m. His presentation will be on "The Constitution, the Founding Fathers and Religion." Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall.

Benefit Bingo

Tickets are available for designer bag bingo to be held on Sunday, March 31, at the Grill Fire Company, 739 Mountain View Road, Reading. Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania. Tickets purchased in advance will be discounted; tickets will also be sold at the door.

The ticket price includes 20 regular games, two specials and one jackpot. Doors will open at noon and bingo will start at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be available to purchase. For tickets, contact Don at 484-345-0546 or email ogre65@ptd.net

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian woman's fellowship group, will meet on Tuesday, April 2 from 9:15 to 11 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown. Guest speaker Nancy Shtofman will present "Testimony of God's Healing Hand. "

Spring Banquet

Tel Hai Camp and Retreat's annual spring celebration banquet fundraiser will be held at Shady Maple Banquet Facility, 129 Toddy Dr, East Earl, on Monday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 pm. for appetizers and fellowship. The guest speaker this year will be Dwayne Walton, executive director of the The Point community center in Parkesburg.

Gospel Concert

A Gospel performance by Jeff Krick will be held at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown, on Sunday, April 28 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
