Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. Support Group

Kacie's Cause, Parkesburg Chapter, offers a support group for friends and family of addicted loved ones every Wednesday at the Schneider Parish Center, 2995 Cemetery Road, Parkesburg, in the outdoor gazebo. There is an indoor plan in case of inclement weather.

Dog Names Needed

The Chester County Sheriff's Office recently announced that it is expecting two young K-9s later this month, destined to become Chester County Deputy Sheriffs.

Both dogs need names. The names should be unique, but quick and easy to pronounce. To submit a suggested name for each of the Chester County Sheriff's Office's newest K-9s, email yukon@chesco.org by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.

The two selected names will be announced by the end of September, as each of the dogs begins its formal training to join the ranks of the Chester County Sheriff's Office K-9 team.

Chicken Barbecue

The Christiana Community Ambulance Association (CCAA) will hold its next chicken barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Stoltzfus Feed, 80 Route 41, Gap, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until sold out).

CCAA will also offer car seat inspections. A car seat inspector, certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), will be on scene to help parents with their child safety seat.

Church Reopening

Church of the Open Bible in Parkesburg, which is now known as Impact Church, will hold a grand reopening celebration on Sunday, Sept. 20 with a 10 a.m. service. There will also be time to meet the new pastor, Mike Bailey.

Golf Tournament

The 11th annual Christiana Moores Memorial Library golf tournament will be held at the Tanglewood Manor Golf Course, 653 Scotland Road, Quarryville, on Monday, Sept. 28. A light lunch will be available at noon and the shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. The cost of the tournament includes green fees, cart, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages.

Prizes will be awarded for a hole-in-one, first- and second-place teams. Contests will include closest-to-the-pin, ladies' and men's longest drive and putting. Also featured will be door prizes.

Revival Meetings

Grace Community Church, 53 Hurley Road, Parkesburg, will hold revival meetings on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 10:40 a.m. and at 6 p.m. and on Monday, Oct. 5 through Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. A free will offering will be received.

Gospel music and gospel preaching will be provided by evangelist Richard Reffeitt and southern Gospel singer Loretta Reffeitt from Reffeitt Ministries.

Chicken Barbecue

Russellville Grange will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 3 p.m. until sold out. The menu will include one-half of a chicken, barbecued potatoes, a choice of pickled cabbage or coleslaw, applesauce, dessert and a beverage.

Church Open

St. John's Episcopal Church, Compass, has re-opened for in-person worship in the sanctuary on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Guests are welcome. Masks are required, and many safety precautions will be maintained.
