The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.
Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Trail Ride
The Large Animal Protection Society (LAPS) will present a scenic trail ride at the Runnymeade Sanctuary on Sunday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The site is located at the crossroads of Route 841 and Greenlawn Road, just south of Ercildoun.
The trail ride will feature scenic views, optional jumps and creek crossings. Trailer parking and the start site will be in the Greenlawn Road Gate field. Attendees should pack lunch and water for their horses.
Runnymeade Sanctuary is an independent foundation that has preserved 1,670 pristine acres in southwestern Chester County. Runnymeade Sanctuary has agreed to open its property for the trail ride.
There will be a fee per rider. All proceeds will go directly to LAPS for the care of the animals at its facility. Rain will cancel the ride.

Peony Festival
The first Styer's Festival of the Peony, featuring 55,000 peony plants, 100 varieties on 25 acres located in the historic Brandywine Valley, will be held through Tuesday, May 28, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket sales and reservations are limited.
Ticketholders will travel along a 1.7-mile trail through a scenic 25-acre peony garden, located at 4313 S. Creek Road, Chadds Ford. For complete details and tickets, visit http://www.styerspeonies.com.
TOPS Meeting
TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight-loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, May 28, at the Oxford Senior Center, 12 Locust St., Oxford.
Weigh-in will be at 6 p.m.; the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge. For more information, contact Joyce at 410-375-5629.
Senior Fellowship
The Over 60's Senior Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, May 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Latta Memorial Presbyterian Church, 23 Green St., Christiana. The May program will feature Jack French, owner of a local hearing center, who will speak on communicating with persons who have hearing loss.
A light lunch will follow the program. Free blood pressure checks will be offered. For more information, contact the church at 610-593-5467. This is the last program until September.
OAHA Meeting
The Oxford Area Historical Association (OAHA) will meet on Wednesday, May 29, at 7 p.m. at the Penns Grove School auditorium, 301 S. Fifth St. Oxford.
"On the Homefront: Stories of the American Revolution" will be presented by storyteller Susannah Brody, the author of several books on local history. Admission will be free. For more information, visit http://www.oxfordhistorical.org.
Golf Tournament
The Parkesburg Free Library will sponsor its 22nd annual golf tournament on Monday, June 17, at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club, 653 Scotland Road, Quarryville. Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with tee time at 1 p.m. The fee includes lunch, dinner, the use of a cart and green fees.
Cash prizes will be awarded for best women's and men's team. There will also be a hole-in-one contest and skill prizes.

Sponsors/Vendors Sought
Community Day in Parkesburg, featuring music, food, fireworks and more, will be held on Saturday, July 6, rain or shine, beginning at 3 p.m. at Minch Park, 400 West St., Parkesburg. All activities will be free, and all proceeds will go to local charities.
