The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.
Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Church Service

Book, Bake Sale
Parkesburg Library is hosting its annual Holiday Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 105 West St., Parkesburg. Meet The Author
Parkesburg Library, 105 West St., Parkesburg, invites the community to meet local children's author Howie Robins who wrote the book "7 Missing Socks!" on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m.
Robins will discuss his book and conduct a book signing. Children will be able to read along as the author tries to solve the mystery of who took the socks.

TOPS Meeting
TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight-loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Oxford Senior Center, 12 Locust St., Oxford.

Craft Show
The second annual Chester County Guild of Craftsmen Winter Fine Craft Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Griffith Hall at Ludwigs Corner Fire Company, 1325 Pottstown Pike (Route 100), Glenmoore. The handmade work of 26 area artists will be featured. The admission fee includes a ticket for a prize drawing.
Holiday Concert
The Kennett Symphony will present "Pops Goes the Holiday" on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., at Rustin High School Auditorium, 1100 Shiloh Road, West Chester.
Under the direction of music director Michael Hall, the concert will feature holiday favorites, an 85-member chorus from the Chester County Choral Society and a sing-along.

Christmas At Ascension
The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 406 W. Second Ave., Parkesburg, will host Christmas at Ascension, a day of Christmas fun, on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The event will include a visit with Santa, a children's craft, and light refreshments from 9 to 11 a.m. Wreath-making will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants may bring their own decorations, and greens and supplies will be provided.
A Celtic Christmas concert with the Seasons Family Band will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. A freewill offering will be accepted. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
All events are open to the public and free. For photos with Santa, the children's craft, and wreath making, attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item donation for the Octorara Food Cupboard.

Live Nativity
The community is invited to attend a living Nativity event at Romansville United Methodist Church, 1859 W. Strasburg Road, Romansville, on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. During the drive-through event, visitors will meet Roman guards, see the angel hovering over the stable where Christ was born and watch the little angels and shepherds gathered around campfires. There will also be live animals.
Visitors will receive homemade cookies as a thank you for coming. The event is free.

Christmas Musical
West Grove United Methodist Church invites the entire community to a Christmas musical celebration on Sunday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Church members will welcome the Advent season with music by the Chancel Choir, PraiseWorks Band, Memory Bells Handbell Choir, many special musical numbers and a carol sing-along.
Christmas cookies and cider will be served after the program.

Cookie Walk
St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 116 Lancaster Pike, Oxford, will hold its annual cookie walk on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. Shoppers will be able to walk around to browse a vast selection of cookies, which will be sold by the pound.
