Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Job Fair

A Census Taker Job Fair will be offered at the Honey Brook Community Library, 687 Compass Road, Honey Brook, on Thursdays, Jan. 23 and Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 to7 p.m.

Community members are invited to learn about job opportunities in the local area and find out how to apply to be a census taker. For more information, call the library at 610-273-3303 or email jspade@ccls.org.

March For Life

Immaculate Conception Church, 905 Chestnut St., Douglassville, is sponsoring a coach bus to Washington, D.C., for the March for Life on Friday, Jan. 24. For additional information, call or text Angela Peterson at 610-858-9688 or email icc_march4life@windstream.net.

Paint Night

Paint Night will take place at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, on Friday, Jan. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Village Park. Full instruction and one-to-one guidance will be provided as attendees create their own painting titled "For the Love of Cardinals" featuring a set of cardinals perched on a snowy lamppost.

The event is suitable for beginners and advanced painters alike. The per-person fee includes supplies, instruction, and a beverage. Call 717-355-6500 to register.

Program On Auschwitz

Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, will host a program by Tom Tillet titled "Auschwitz: Graveyard or Tourist Destination" on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. in the chapel. The program will honor the 75th anniversary of Auschwitz Liberation Day.

Neighbors Meeting

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian women's fellowship group, will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 28, beginning at 9:15 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church 2779 Main St. (Route 23), Morgantown. Guest speaker Lindsay Graham will present "Worship 101." The discussion will focus on why people worship and how they can incorporate different aspects of worship into their daily lives.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 8:45 to 10 a.m. at The Torch Community Center, located in the Clock Tower Plaza in Morganto8wn. American Legion

Local veterans are invited to attend meetings of American Legion Charles F. Moran Post 475, which meets on the fourth Monday of every month at 11 a.m. at Freedom Village at Brandywine, 15 Freedom Blvd., Coatesville. The next scheduled meeting will be on Jan. 27. A free lunch will be served. Donations will be accepted.

Dance Party

Youths with special needs are invited to enjoy an "Everybody In" dance party that will be held at Grove United Methodist Church, 490 W. Boot Road, West Chester, on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 10 to 11 a.m.

It is not necessary to register for the events, and participants can attend as many dance parties as they choose.

All attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian who must stay with them during the hourlong session. Siblings are welcome. No snacks will be provided, so dancers are encouraged to bring bottled water or other beverages.

Bird Count Seminar

Those who would like to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) to be held from Friday, Feb. 14, through Monday, Feb. 17, are invited to learn about the event at a seminar to be offered at the Honey Brook Community Library, 687 Compass Road (Route 10), Honey Brook, on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m.

Registration is underway for the seminar. The snow date is Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.

Travelogue

The Kiwanis Club of New Holland will continue its travelogue series on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a presentation titled "Burma: Reflections on a Hidden Land." Produced by Sean Cassidy and hosted by Tom Sterling, the show will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Garden Spot High School, 669 E. Main St., New Holland.
